I am thrilled to again have the opportunity to appear on Jane Friedman’s Writer’s Digest blog There Are No Rules. In this guest post, I blog about blogging, and meeting a far-away blogger friend in person, and I probably use the word blog way too often, but there it is. I share the story of what I did on summer vacation, a trip where I met the lovely Judy Clement Wall, and how surreal it can be to make the connection between the cyber and the physical.
I have appeared on There Are No Rules once before, and it is always exciting. Blogging can take a great deal of time. For me, so far, the investment has been worth it. Writing is a journey, and I have found so many wonderful traveling companions…
You go, girl! Sometimes I look forward to writing posts on my blog. Sometimes I can’t think of a relevant thing to say and it’s a painful experience that doesn’t seem worth my while. But in general I find it a good experience! Never got to meet any of my blogging contemporaries though. Sounds like fun!
Keep at it!
Hi Jane,
Good thing I had some decent track shoes on this morning.
I ran over to your guest post, then to zebrasounds and now back to you.
Such a lovely piece of writing today. I loved the story.
Love to see you guest posting….
Let’s see what markets have you cornered?
Internet….check….. you’ve already done radio….
soon….daytime talk shows….then who knows?
Letterman? Lenno? Conan?
Oh! If you go on Conan…take me with you …. please?
Hugs!
Karen :0)
Karen, you are funny. I appreciate all your support. You are certainly part of the bloggy circle of friends I was writing about!
Kris, You are in that group too. We did not even meet at the conference but we have found much to “talk” about. I hope you are the next blogger I meet (I think we can pull this off since we are in the same town… 🙂
Jane,
I was trolling the internet and let our a squeal of delight when your face popped on my computer screen! Go blogger girl!!! Hope you life is returning to normal now that summer has passed. I just finished Julie & Julia last night. Thank you for the recommendation – I gobbled it up! Have you seen the film yet? I would love to see it – is it even still running?
On a slightly related blogging note – J. P. has caught the blogging bug (http://sportzbitz.com) and was invited to blog on mvn.com. He posted his first mvn.com blog yesterday and he is excited and a bit embarrassed about his blogging adventure. Lunch? Coffee? Movie date??
Jaime
Jaime, always happy to generate an early morning squeal! I would like to see the movie… I have checked out J.P.s blog a few times and it is so fun! What a great project for him on so many levels. And very exciting about mvn.com!
When Bloggers Meet… Can’t decide if it sounds like a love story or a horror story! Loved your post, Jane, and not just because I’m mentioned prominently.
In real life, it was closer to a romantic comedy. 😉
Judy, you’re funny, and very kind. I think you have nailed the genre. (In a platonic way.) 🙂
